چکیده

• Experimental results of 11 RC walls scaled to 1/4 considering several damage levels and varying parameters were presented. The showed rapid severe stiffness degradation in squat subjected initial damage. with flange boundary elements had relatively greater due prior than columns. No significant deterioration ultimate strength capacity maximum deformation any level previous was observed. Structural engineers face a dilemma assessing the residual seismic damaged buildings after an earthquake, especially for lightly moderately that might not need repair but require be assessed their performance aftershocks future major earthquakes. main purpose this paper is investigate influence pre-damage on reinforced concrete (RC) wall tests, by conducting quasi-static, cyclic loading tests shear walls. A comparison reduction stiffness, capacity, existing guidelines regarding evaluation investigated. This study presents experimental eleven ¼ divided into three series based reinforcement ratio shape elements. Within each series, effect four specimens designed fail represent Onagawa nuclear power plant Japan. no slight

Simulation of Nonlinear Seismic Response of Reinforced Concrete Structural Walls

In this study the performance of three macro-models in predicting the nonlinear response of different walls is investigated. The macro-models used are: Equivalent Beam Model, Multiple Vertical Line Element Model and a shear panel model developed by Massone et al. (2006). The walls are classified as slender, intermediate, and squat walls according to their shear-span ratio. First, three single w...

Residual strength of blast damaged reinforced concrete columns

Columns are the key load-bearing elements in frame structures and exterior columns are probably the most vulnerable structural components to terrorist attacks. Column failure is normally the primary cause of progressive failure in frame structures. A high-fidelity physicsbased computer program, LS-DYNA was utilized in this study to provide numerical simulations of the dynamic responses and resi...

Effect of Unreinforced Masonry Infill Walls on Seismic Performance of Reinforced Concrete Framed Structures

Unreinforced Masonry infill walls (URM) are commonly used in the Reinforced Concrete (RC) framed structures as interiors and exteriors partition walls. Although they usually are not considered in the structural analysis and design, their influence on the seismic performance of the framed structures is significant. A common practice in the modern and old RC buildings is to remove the URM walls i...

Seismic Performance of Reinforced Concrete Frames Infilled by Masonry Walls with Different Heights

This study carried out comparative seismic performance of reinforced concrete frames infilled by masonry walls with different heights. Partial and fully infilled reinforced concrete frames were modeled for the research objectives and the analysis model for a bare reinforced concrete frame was also established for comparison. Non–linear static analyses for the studied frames were performed to in...

Experimental Study on Seismic Performance of Reinforced Concrete Frame Columns Supported with Post-build Wing Walls

Abstract: Six specimens of concrete frame columns reinforced by post-build wing walls on the opposite faces were designed and fabricated to investigate their seismic performance. Axial compression ratio was considered as the critical factor and divided into 0.31, 0.36, and 0.40 before reinforcement. HRB400 steel grade was used to the longitudinal bar and the ratio of longitudinal reinforcement ...
